History:
Volker’s father was a soldier in the Royal Guard of the Ganely Army, so as you can imagine, he was pushed into a military career himself. He enlisted as a squire under his father at the age of 12, and soon climbed the ranks until he earned the great honor of being a personal guard of the great King Gerhardt. As he spent day, after day protecting and serving the king, he grew to admire him greatly. The King was a great man, and his kindness was known all around the world. The Kings son, Reiner, envied his fathers power, but hated his fathers “weakness”, so much so that made several attempts to take his fathers life. One day during an annual festival, an assassin made his way past the guards and killed the King without anyone even noticing. Volker’s guilt would haunt him forever, but in the King’s will, he left his most prized possession, the legendary sword Excalibur, to the Knight he had befriended.

Almost immediately, Reiner took power and enforced his new law. A dark age followed, and the only one who remained loyal to the old ways was Volker. Reiner saw this as a threat, and was looking for any chance to deem Volker an enemy of the state. Volker spent endless nights researching the kings murder, until he over heard a conversation between a Reiner and another knight, Volker’s subordinate. Reiner praised the knight for killing his father, and promised a large sum of money should he kill Volker as well. In a rage he drew his blade and struck down the knight. He then pointed the bloody blade towards The new King, swearing to end his tyranny and avenge Gerhardt.

Since then, Volker has been banished from the kingdom, and lives alone on the out side of the island. And maybe worst of all, he has been accused of the death of his beloved king.
